eFoil maintenance guide

After-ride rinsing, seasonal inspection, and the wear items that need periodic replacement.

Salt water is corrosive and will degrade metal, seals, and electronics over time. A few minutes of care after every session keeps your eFoil reliable for years.

After every ride

  1. Rinse with fresh water — the entire board, propulsion, wings, and all connection points.

  2. Open the hatch and check for any water inside. Wipe dry if needed.

  3. Rinse connectors — the Fischer/ODU data cable connections, phase seal areas, and LCS mount points.

  4. Dry the board before storing — especially the hatch compartment.

  5. Store the board on an eFoil Stand or a soft surface, deck-up.

Monthly / seasonal

  • Hatch seal — check the rubber seal around the battery hatch for wear or compression; a compromised seal is the main source of water ingress. Replace hatch tape from the eFoil Hardware Kit if degraded.

  • Latches and hinges — if the hatch doesn't close securely, replacement Carbon Fiber Latches, Latch v2 sets, and Friction Hinges are available.

  • Phase seals — the tri-color seals (green, yellow, red) protect the motor phase connections. Replace if worn, cracked, or not seated.

  • Propeller — inspect for chips, cracks, or bent tips. On LCS, verify the prop and tail cone are firmly clicked in.

  • Wing hardware — ensure all wing bolts are tight; vibration loosens them.

  • Mast hardware — verify mast-to-board bolts are secure. On LCS, check base plate screws (2.0 N·m / 18 in-lb).

End of season / long-term storage

  1. Full rinse and dry.

  2. Charge the battery to 40–60% for storage.

  3. Remove the propulsion unit if storing long-term.

  4. Store the board in a board bag.

  5. Store the battery in a Battery Backpack in a cool, dry place — recheck monthly and recharge to 40–60% if it drops below 20%.

Wear items

  • Phase seals — replace annually or after impacts

  • Hatch tape — replace when adhesion degrades

  • Propeller blades — replace if chipped or bent

  • Data cables — inspect for corrosion; replace if pins are damaged

  • Deck pad — replace if delaminating or worn
