My battery won't charge

The most common cause is the wrong charger — plus cable, pin, and BMS checks.

Symptoms

  • Plug in the charger and nothing happens

  • Charger light doesn't change to indicate charging

  • Battery was working fine but now won't accept a charge

Diagnostic steps

  1. Verify charger-to-battery compatibility — the most common issue:

    • Gen4 batteries need the eFoil Battery Charger (Delta Q IC1200)

    • Gen5 and LIFTX batteries need the Quick Charger Gen5/LIFTX

    • These are NOT interchangeable.

  2. Check the charger cable type. Fischer (5-pin) is standard for Gen4; ODU (8-pin) for older batteries. If your battery has ODU and your charger has Fischer, you need the Adapter Data Cable (Fischer to ODU).

  3. Inspect the cable for damage. Look for bent pins or corrosion on both the charger cable and the battery port. Salt-water corrosion on the pins is a common cause.

  4. Check the wall outlet and power cable. Confirm the outlet works and the region-specific power cable is securely connected.

  5. Try a charge-cycle reset. Unplug everything, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect in order: wall outlet → charger → charger cable → battery.

  6. Check the battery LEDs. If you see red or unusual patterns, note the pattern and contact support — it may indicate a BMS fault preventing charge.

If none of that works

The internal BMS may have entered a fault state. Contact Lift support with your battery serial number and a description of the LED pattern.
