Collision damage / impact repair

How Lift's sacrificial design protects the expensive parts — and what to replace after a hit.

How eFoils handle impacts

eFoils are designed with sacrificial failure points — when you hit a rock, dock, or submerged object, replaceable parts are engineered to break first to protect the more expensive components.

On LCS boards (LIFT5 / LIFTX), the LCS Mast Sub-Assembly (Absorber) is specifically designed to absorb impacts and protect the board and motor. The impact-absorbing plate can be replaced rather than damaging the entire board or motor — a key advantage of the LCS system.

Assess the damage

  1. Power off immediately and retrieve the board.

  2. Inspect the propulsion — bent or cracked mast, damaged propeller blades, loose motor housing.

  3. Check the LCS connection — the mast may have separated from the board at the LCS mount, which is by design.

  4. Inspect the wings — carbon fiber can chip or crack.

  5. Check the board — look for hull cracks, especially around the mast mount.

Common replacement parts after impact

  • LCS Mast Sub-Assembly (Absorber) — the sacrificial part on LCS boards

  • LCS Base Plate — if the propeller mount was damaged

  • LCS Shroud Assembly — if the motor shroud cracked

  • Propeller (LCS Folding/Fixed) — depending on type

  • Front or back wings — if carbon wings chipped or cracked

  • Full propulsion unit — only if the mast + motor assembly is beyond repair

Contact support

For anything beyond a simple propeller or wing swap, contact support with photos/video of the damage, your board model and serial number, and a description of what happened.
