LCS connection issues

Propulsion that won't click in, props that won't snap on, and intermittent cutouts.

Symptoms

  • Propulsion feels loose or wobbles on the board

  • Motor cuts out intermittently during riding

  • LCS propulsion won't click fully into the board

  • Propeller or tail cone won't snap on properly

Propulsion won't click into the board

  1. Clean the LCS mount surfaces — sand, salt crystals, or debris prevent a full seat.

  2. Align carefully and push firmly until you hear/feel the click.

  3. Inspect the LCS receiver on the board for damage or foreign objects.

Propeller or tail cone won't snap on

  1. Check the lock tabs — the depressible buttons should move freely; clean with fresh water if stuck.

  2. Align and press straight down until the lock buttons click into place.

  3. Inspect the motor shaft for salt buildup or corrosion — clean with fresh water.

Motor cuts out intermittently

  1. Confirm the propulsion is fully seated. A partially clicked connection can work initially, then lose contact while riding.

  2. Inspect the LCS Absorber plate — if cracked or deformed from an impact, the connection may be compromised.

  3. Check the phase seals — degraded seals can cause intermittent motor issues; replacement sets are a service part.

After-ride maintenance

  • Rinse all LCS connection points with fresh water after every session.

  • Check the base plate screws periodically — torque to 2.0 N·m / 18 in-lb with threadlocker.
