My eFoil won't start / won't power on

Step-by-step diagnosis when the board shows no response to the power button.

Symptoms

  • Press the power button and nothing happens

  • Board shows no lights, no display, no response

  • Battery appears charged but the board won't turn on

Diagnostic steps

  1. Check the battery charge level. Press the battery indicator button. If no lights illuminate, the battery may be fully depleted — charge it first.

  2. Inspect the battery connection. Open the hatch and ensure the battery is fully seated. Check the data cable (Fischer 5-pin or ODU 8-pin) for a secure connection to the eBox — a loose or corroded data cable is one of the most common causes.

  3. Try a different hand controller. If the battery shows charge but the board won't respond, the controller may not be paired. Verify the controller's Bluetooth connection; if you have a second controller, try it.

  4. Check for water ingress. If the board was recently in the water, inspect the hatch for moisture. Water inside can make the eBox shut down as a safety measure. Dry thoroughly and try again.

  5. Inspect the power button. If it feels mushy or unresponsive, it may need replacement (available as a service part).

  6. Check the antenna. A disconnected or damaged Bluetooth antenna inside the hatch can stop the controller from communicating with the eBox, making the board appear dead.

If none of that works

The eBox (motor controller) may have failed — the most common hardware failure that presents as "board won't start." Contact Lift support for warranty evaluation or a replacement. eBoxes are generation- and board-specific, so always provide your exact board model and size.
