Bluetooth signal loss / controller disconnects mid-ride

Antenna, moisture, and controller-battery causes of mid-ride dropouts (common on LIFT3).

Symptoms

  • Controller loses connection to the board during riding

  • Motor cuts out suddenly, then reconnects after a few seconds

  • Controller shows "disconnected" intermittently

  • More common on older LIFT3 / LIFT3 F boards

Common causes

  • Antenna issue — the Bluetooth antenna inside the hatch may be disconnected, damaged (physical or corrosion), or repositioned. It should be placed per the user manual for optimal signal.

  • Water in the hatch — even a small amount near the antenna or eBox interferes with the signal.

  • Low controller battery — especially on the Classic (AA) controller, weakens the signal. Replace or charge.

  • Range / body position — your body can partially block the signal, more so on older boards with less optimized antenna placement.

What to do

  1. Open the hatch and check the antenna connection and condition.

  2. Dry the compartment thoroughly if any moisture is present.

  3. Replace the antenna if it appears damaged.

  4. Ensure the controller is fully charged or has fresh batteries.

  5. If it persists, contact support — the eBox's Bluetooth module may need evaluation.

LIFT3 / LIFT3 F note

Signal loss was more common on this generation due to antenna and eBox design. Frequent disconnects may indicate degraded eBox adhesion — contact support for evaluation. See LIFT3 (legacy).
