Why update?

Lift periodically releases firmware for your battery, eBox, and hand controller. Updates can improve battery/BMS safety, motor performance and throttle response, controller features and display, and overall reliability.

How to update

  1. Download the Lift app (Apple and Android).

  2. Turn on your eFoil and make sure the controller is connected.

  3. Open the app and connect to your board via Bluetooth.

  4. Check for updates — the app notifies you if one is available for your battery, eBox, or controller.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install.

  6. Do not power off the board or close the app during the update.

On the Elite Hand Controller, a spinning propeller icon means an update is in progress — do not power down while it spins, or the update may fail.

Troubleshooting updates

  • App won't connect: enable Bluetooth, power cycle the board and phone, stay in range.

  • Update fails mid-way: power cycle the board and retry; if it repeats, contact support.

  • "Already on the latest version": no action needed.

  • Controller won't update: some controller updates require the controller to be connected to the board (not just on) — power on the board first and confirm a connection before starting.

Important notes

  • Keep the battery above 50% before starting an update.

  • Don't ride immediately after — power cycle the board first so the new firmware loads.

  • Updates are specific to your board generation; the app handles this automatically.
